SCI coordinates short and long term volunteer projects all over the world. This is done by close cooperation of the 43 SCI branches and local partner organisations.
Short term projects
Every year the SCI branches and partner organisation offer thousand workcamps to volunteers! Workcamps last 2-4 weeks. They provide an excellent opportunity to explore countries beyond the tourist track and really get to know local people and cultures. Workcamps are open for all.
Long term projects
There is a special program for people who would like to stay in one place for a longer period. The LTV (Long Term Volunteer) programme makes it possible to stay abroad from 3 to 12 months. LTV's work for projects organised by a local SCI-branch or partner organisation. The possibilities are many: from working with disabled people, in an orphanage or in an SCI branch office. Long Term Volunteering is more then just work. It is the experience of living abroad and immersing yourself into another culture.
Other activities
Every years many seminars and trainings are organized by SCI International or a local branch. These trainings focus on a variety of topics related to international volunteering and are open to all SCI volunteers. Examples are trainings for 'Volunteering in conflict areas' or a 'Peace education seminar'.
