´An International Voluntary Project is above all a human adventure´ - Gaetane, Germany
Service Civil International (SCI) is one of the world's largest international volunteering organisations dedicated to promoting a culture of peace through the organisation and coordination of voluntary projects all over the world. SCI has been organising international voluntary projects since 1920. These projects have demonstrated to be an effective way of helping to break down barriers and prejudices between people of different backgrounds and to promote a culture of peace. Every year thousands of volunteers work on international voluntary projects organised in many countries all around the world by SCI’s member - and partner organisations.
International Voluntary Projects
Joining an international voluntary project with SCI is a unique opportunity. It is a fun adventure packed with rich learning experiences. It gives you the chance to explore the world with a purpose. It is an opportunity to give something back, to have something to do, somewhere to go, and somewhere to stay. SCI is open to all, which means that everybody can volunteer, regardless of cultural, national, social and economic backgrounds or age.
Variety of projects
SCI provides an opportunity for everyone to volunteer in the project of your own personal choice. Whether you want to go abroad and explore new horizons, or prefer to stay closer to home. You decide where you want to go. SCI offers project in Europe, Asia Africa and Latin America. Whether you want to renovate a historic building, plant trees in a reforestation project or take care of children with disabilities. There is always a project for you. Besides SCI offers short term projects as well as mid- and long term projects. You can volunteer for as little as two weeks up to twelve months. As a volunteer you participate in the project of your choice and join an international volunteer team that works closely with local communities. Volunteering with SCI is a fantastic way to develop new friendships, study local and global issues up close, and gain greater understanding of new cultures.
