| Our Structure |
|
Although at a first glance it may seem complicated, the international structure of SCI is relatively easy to understand. Here are the main constituent elements of our world-wide, democratic organisation:
Branch: SCI has branches and partners in Europe, Asia, Africa, South and North America and Australia. They are usually organised in national working groups, local groups and one national committee.
Working Group: There are several international working groups. They are made of SCI branches, groups, and partner organisations. Working groups are active around a certain theme or region.
ICM: The International Committee Meeting takes place every year either in Europe or in Asia. Every branch has a vote, but delegates from SCI groups and working groups also attend. It is the main decision making body of SCI and the place where the general policy of the organisation is defined.
IEC: The International Executive Committee is the co-ordination body of the organisation and the place where decisions are taken in between two ICMs.
International staff: Its composition varies according to the need and the resources of the organisation. It comprises at least an International Co-ordinator, who is ex-officio member of the IEC and co-ordinates the rest of the staff. |
