Autumn volunteer meeting, Hungary (2011)
`I am sure that I can speak for the majority of us when I say that we enjoyed it enormously and there are many unforgettable moments. Personally I learned a great deal about Peace, Violence and Conflict Resolution and about other people. But above all, I learned about myself`- Alex Graupera, A Peace Messenger
SCI needs you! There is always something going on in our international network of volunteers. Whether it is the preparation of the new workcamp season, the organisation of a training, an international seminar or meeting, a fundraising event or a manifestation to raise awareness about the effects of climate change: there is always a possibility for you to contribute. You can become active as a volunteer in your own country or by supporting international teams of volunteers who are active within SCI.
At the local level
SCI is able to implement most of the projects thanks to the never ending spirit of enthusiastic and motivated volunteers. At the local level people dedicate their time, experience and knowledge to support SCI member – and partner organisations with office work, coordination of workcamps, communication and PR, the organisation of workshops and trainings and more. Would you like to help out as well? Do you want to experience SCI from the inside while meeting lots of interesting people and making new friends? Then please contact your local SCI branch.
At the international level
It is also possible to become active within a group of international volunteers that work on specific themes or regions. For example there is the Africa working group, or the Asia working group. But also the GAIA working group that focuses on climate justice and sustainable development. Or maybe you would like to become a Peace Messenger and travel from workcamp to workcamp to provide peace education workshops to other volunteers? Then contact your local SCI branch, they will give you all the necessary information to get started. Moreover, keep always an eye on the vacancy section!
