Non-formal Education

Volunteers' spring meeting (SCI Hungary)
SCI is almost entirely run by volunteers. The contributions of volunteers are of great value and that is why SCI wants to invest in the development of their knowledge and skills. SCI does this through the organisation and coordination of trainings, seminars and meetings throughout the year and in different countries. These trainings, seminars and meetings are an opportunity for volunteers to meet each other, gain valuable knowledge, share experiences and acquire new skills, all related to the implementation of voluntary projects.
The trainings and seminars focus on a variety of themes, such as PR and communication in youth and voluntary projects, volunteer exchange evaluation, north-south exchange, peace education, intercultural learning, sustainability of international voluntary projects, volunteering with immigrants and more. They are all organised according to the principle of non formal education.
Since peace education touches the core of all SCI activities, it is an element of almost all trainings and seminars. There are currently two thematic groups in SCI that coordinate activities in the field of Peace Education: the Peace Messengers and the No More War team. Both organise trainings and seminars, as well as visits to workcamps where they provide workshops and study sessions to international volunteer teams.
