SCI has more then 40 branches all over the world. Branches are full members of SCI and have a voting right at the International Committee Meeting. Groups and contacts are young member organisations that are on their way to becoming a branch of SCI.
Even though branches are part of SCI and share the same values and ideas, they work independently in their own country on the exchange of volunteers and coordination of projects. This decentralized way of working makes close cooperation and consultation with local communities possible.
Communication between branches happens via international meetings and trainings, whereas daily communication takes place with support of e-mail, Skype and other modern media. The branches also cooperate in different international working groups, projects and campaigns.
SCI also cooperates with many partner organisations. These are independent but like-minded organisations that also run international voluntary projects. Cooperation with partners is similar to cooperation with branches.
