North South Platform Meeting 2009

The topic of this year’s meeting was “Working in Conflict Areas”. Common sessions were dedicated to SCI’s involvement in Palestine and Chiapas in Mexico. The peak of the meeting was the Open Space. Here participants discussed the role and development of North-South work in SCI; the Online Placement System; the relation between NSPM and EEM; fees for the South work camps; health and safety of volunteers; and - perhaps the most important one -: a resolution for the International Committee Meeting about having a support person for North-South working groups at the International Secretariat to ensure continuity and efficiency in the work of the groups.

Next NSPM will probably be in Finland since our Finnish branch offered to be 2010 NSPM-host!  So maybe we see you next year in the land of saunas?
