Malindo Unity Swim

SCI Malaysia together with partner organisations created a special event where a team of 24 Malaysians including 5 females, 4 physically challenged, representatives from 11 states, all the major ethnic groups (truly Malaysian) swam non-stop in a relay format from Malaysia to Indonesia and back. This was never done before, ~ 90 km and took them 27 hrs 21 minutes.
They wanted to:
-to demonstrate the spirit of our 50 years of Malaysian nationhood;
-to highlight the 50 years of friendship with Indonesia, their neighbor;
-bringing in various communities and groups together in an effort to eliminate negative feelings;
-to promote Visit Malaysia Year;
-to promote voluntarism and team based activities;
-to set new heights and challenges for their youth;
-raising funds to promote further Peace and Unity projects among the various races;

At the end of the project SCI Malaysia activists are pleased to have achieved almost all the objectives.
